Humid Hides? Keeping humidity up?

Hello everyone! So I have my tank all set up. Temperatures are perfect. The only thing I'm struggling with is humidity. Right now it says 30%. I do have a heat lamp so I know that's what is making the humidity lower, but without the lamp my temps drop too low, and even if I turned up the UTH it would get too hot for the hot side but still not make the cool side warmer. I've read things about putting wet paper towels or moss in a hide, but I thought wet bedding gave snakes scale rot? I'm also picking up a spray bottle soon to mist the cage. Any tips would be appreciated!

scale rot means sopping wet bedding throughout the enclosure. a ball of wet moss tucked in a hide will not harm the snake.

a trick i like to use is a damp hand towel laid over a hide (towel under the CHE). boosts humidity for a week before it needs to be rewet.

sorry if you've posted this info before: do you have a mesh top enclosure? and what type of substrate are you using? are you using a light bulb or a CHE?

Yes, it's mesh top. I'm using aspen, I know that's not the best, so I'll probably switch to something more absorbent when it runs out. I'm using an infrared 50 watt bulb.

Consider swapping substrate to orchid bark which looks great and holds humidity great .
You can also put some Perspex on top of the lid to keep moisture from escaping ..

I use cardboard wrapped in aluminum foil to cover my screen tops. Just cut a piece to fit, cutting out a hole for the heat lamp and a little extra room for air flow. Wrap it tightly in foil and tape the foil to the cardboard. Then simply lay it on top of the screen. The foil works well to reflect heat back into the enclosure and keep humidity in, while also preventing the cardboard from soaking up the moisture. The cardboard makes it sturdy and this should last you a while.

it's nice when you're going to be away for a few days and can't monitor the humidity of a mesh-top.

Thanks everyone! I just got a spray bottle and it seems to be doing it's job pretty well, but the humidity does go down fast. I'll definitely try some of the stuff you mentioned.

What substrate ??

If it's aspen or similar it WILL dry out easily ....

Still aspen, since I don't want to waste it. Once it runs out then I will definitely switch to something more absorbent.
