Back story -
Our little Miss Piggy laid our first hognose clutch on April 6th. There were 7 good eggs and 4 slugs. At day 56, we started getting pips and by day 58 all 7 had crawled out of their eggs. With one exception, yolks were fully absorbed before they crawled out and weights were all 6-7 grams. Here we are 34 days later, and only 4 of the 7 have eaten.
Things I have tried -
Live pinky
F/T pinky
F/T brained pinky
Tuna juice scenting
Salmon juice scenting
Pieces of salmon
Mackerel juice (yuck!) scenting
Vienna Sausage juice scenting
Shrimp scenting
Shrimp pieces
Rosy Minnows scenting
Rosy Minnows
I've also tried putting them in a deli cup with a food item and leaving them with it to see if that would encourage them.
They are all still active (when they're not hiding), and I've tried to be pretty hands off with them so as to not stress them out so I haven't even checked to see who is what yet.
Questions -
When should I start worrying about the non-eaters?
At what point do I need to seriously consider force feeding (last resort!)?
What else can I try for scenting (I live in the desert, so wild caught frogs/toads aren't much of an option)?
Can I use a pacman frog for frog scenting (I have two pacman, so it wouldn't be a special purchase just for scenting purposes, but I don't want to use them without knowing if it would okay)?
Thanks for any info you guys can give me.
