A girl with long tail or a boy with short tail?

I bought this albino anaconda hognose snake yesterday. The seller said its a male. However, 'he' does have a shorter tail compared to my other males. I counted the scales after the vent. There are only 34 scales. Typically male should have 40+ scales after the vent. So from the photos, what do you guys think?

I apologize for the post as I am no help but I did not know that about hoggies and I have a "female". Thanks for posting that info. I'm looking forward to see what my "girl" brings

I can't help with your question, but I can say "he" is beautiful!

Because of his coloration, you can try 'candling' the tail with a tiny flashlight. If there's a big purple-red blotch past the vent, male.
