Renick family
Even if you never met him, it is him, and people like him, that have made this hobby what you see today. I came across a go fund me page for his family. I am not sure about everyone else, but no way would my family have been ready to deal with a situation like this when I was 29. I think we all owe him whatever we can afford.

There is also a Facebook group set up for a charity auction that will support the Renick family. You can donate an animal(s) to the auction or bid, proceeds go to help the family. SYR is also offering a discount on shipping for both those bidding and donating. The page has more detailed info about the rules. I'm still in disbelief over this tragedy.

Thanks
Anyone know when the Facebook auction is. Honestly I am
not on Facebook, but if someone can post details I can get a friend to bid for me.

Do we know who the organizers are? I always question gofundme. All that's on there is asking for money. As of this post, there are no pics of Ben not even his snakes so that makes me wonder more....
Does anyone know if his operation is up? I was looking at overpaying for an animal. This would also remove a burden from his family. The Facebook auction sounds like an option but I think purchasing one of his animals does 2 things...
Provides Funds
Removes a care burden on the grieving family

Shane Costello is organizing the charity auction, he's one of the good guys in the retic world.
The Reptile Report has published the above link as the official GoFundMe so I'd imagine it's legit.
I also agree that purchasing a critter from the business would provide a lot of help right now as well. I remember after my mom passed things were crazy for a few weeks, and I couldn't imagine trying to care for a ton of animals and keep a business functioning at the same time.

The GoFundMe link posted above is 100% legitimate. It is the official and approved GoFundMe account for the family. There should not be any others.

Re: Renick family
Yea I mentioned how hard this must be for his family not only looking him but having to deal with all his reptiles now which is hard as it is when you have so many then the racks and everything else it's just very upsetting and so far no one knows why
