Exclamation The Great Debate: Pop vs. Soda

what do u call those sweet fizzy drinks?

it's always been "pop" for me. pop can, pop bottle, drinking pop.

    pop. pop. pop.

    it just sounds more fun.

stop calling it soda. it's pop u guys. calling it soda makes u sound crazy. and generically referring all pop as "coke" makes u sound foolish.

anyway here's a cool map that shows what peeps call those fizzy drinks. What do u call it?

    RIP Mamba

    oh that's silly!
'Pop' is what you do to zits or bubble wrap
Soda is the delicious sugary carbonated beverage that you drink

While back had a coworker visiting from the east coast asking me to take him by the MAC machine. I was so confused until I realized he wanted an ATM.

Wow, with half of the country using the very old fashioned term, Pop, I wonder if they follow suit and call the refrigerator an Ice Box as well.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

generically referring all pop as "coke" makes u sound foolish.

I'm originally from Texas and growing up EVERYONE said coke.
"Hey can I get a coke?"
    "Sure, what kind?"
    "Sprite."
That was how it was and if you said pop everyone would die laughing at you. Haha to each their own though!

Just do the healthy thing and drink water, then it doesn't matter what you call it. But seriously, it's soda.

Re: The Great Debate: Pop vs. Soda

I must be foolish because around here we call it coke, ya'll. I'm in one of those little red counties in southern Indiana btw lol

If I have to differentiate, I'll say pop (like for that decade I lived in Ohio and got strange glances for saying I was getting a Coke and would come back with a Sprite). Never soda. What the heck is that, anyway??

My parents just call it a soft drink. No other terms. But I grew up in a soda area, moved to a Coke area and then moved again to another Coke area. I thought soda was just an abbreviation for soda pop.

Re: The Great Debate: Pop vs. Soda

I'm from northwestern Pa, we say pop and
MAC. When I lived in Virginia Beach, we said
    soda and ATM.
