Albino Burmese question

I've seen many ads for Albino Burms in which the snake isn't expensive at all. Like $100. I'm not a burm expert, but I know that albinos in every other snake sell for a lot more than that. Why is that albino burms are so inexpensive? I wouldn't think it was because of their size...I mean albino retics sell for a crap load more. I dunno...input would be great.

I believe it has to do with a number of factors including: Burms, I believe, have been available as pets longer than Retics, the clutch size of a Burm, and the number of people that can realistically take care of a Burm. There are a lot of Burms being put up for adoption and being let go to fend for themselves. I don't hear about that nearly as much for Retics, so I imagine the supply/demand for a Retic is quite a bit less than a Burm.

The stores that sells Burms in Colorado are rare. The cheapest I've seen for an Albino is about $250. I do know that the stores that do sell them will often knock off money to get the quick sell but I'll bet it is probably a norm they are selling in which case that seems to be the going rate. Another theory is that you have a store owner or owners in this case that don't know the market value and are baseing their price off a norm. Yet another theory is that it was an accidental clutch (hey it could happen lol) and they just don't have the room and are looking for a quick sell. Man this is a loaded question I could go on for days but until you speak with the person that is selling and see the snake in person your guess is as good as mine.

The main reason that burms are cheaper is basically supply and demand. Burms lay alot more eggs than some other pythons like bps. Two albino burms bred to one another can yeild up to 70 albino babies. That is alot different than the average bp clutch of 6-8 eggs. Retic can also yeild 70+ eggs but albino retics have only been bred since the early 90s. Albino burms have been bred since the early 80s. So there has been alot of time for the price of albino burms to drop and a large supply to become available when compared to other albinos. There was once a time when they were just as expensive as others.

Well I saw a couple that varied from $100-150. So I looked around some more and I kept seeing that price. I still think it is pretty cheap seeing as I see others buying them for $300.

I have seen albino burms sell from $150-$300. It depends alot on the breeder and the quality of animal.

The one we initially purchased was $169.99 and 5 months old.
