Help! Is this a blister, tick or mite?
Hello All and thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
After a long stint away from the hobby I've picked up a few ball pythons and a ATB over the last year or two.
I've never seen anything like this before, wasn't able to find anything online like it.
One of my young Albinos shed a couple days ago but had a bad shed when helping her get the rest of the shed off I noticed this about 3/4 down near the anal scoot
Does anyone know what this could be?

Hm. Definitely not a mite. I don't see legs, so I doubt its a tick. Kind of to red for a tick.
Have you tried to "gently" wipe it off?
I have never heard of that happening, but it certainly does look like a blood blister. I would just keep an eye on that. If that is what it is and it "pops" it will be a open wound and you should probably keep the snake on paper towels for now, and keep the enclosure extra clean.
If it does open, put some Neosporin (without pain relief) on it.

Thanks I thought it might be a blister also. I did try and wipe it off but it is under a layer of skin.
Thanks for the advice, I am going to clean her cage again tonight i'll put her on paper.

If this "pops", the wound may actually be under the scale. It will then sort of look like a spot of scale rot.
Bacteria can still enter, so even if its not technically a "open" wound I would treat it as such. Keep her extra clean until this is resolved
Keep us up to date.

Quick update, it looks a little darker now; possibly a little smaller.
Thanks!

Definitely behaving like a spot of blood under the scale. It will likely go away with time and is probably clotted. Good to see this is progressing positively

I agree, looks like clotted blood, drying out.
Will probably be gone with the next shed
