    Jungle Gyms

Moresby, my little Irian Jaya carpet python started using his light's power cable as a vine to perch on, so on Sunday I made him a perch, and while I was at it jungle gyms for the Mexcan kingsnakes. Moresby's is the simple box with a couple rope "vines", as his current enclosure is only 10" tall (long-term it will house a sand boa). The kings got a stepped jungle gym with a platform on top - the kings are busybodies who like to hang out and watch things, so the platform gives them another spot to do so.

Diaval, our long-term boarder Mexican black king was exploring his jungle gym within an hour or less:

By morning the kings were sitting on their platforms, and Moresby was perching on his pseudo-vines:

Despite the lights in the cages, the snakes weren't photographing well.

Could you explain where to find parts, what are the parts, and how do you make these? My snakers would totally appreciate it (I'm neither handy nor creative, but these would be wonderful).

Nice. I was doing these for my JCP too. I'm going to make a big 5' one for outside in the summer time for my boas.

All you do is buy 10' PVC pipes in whatever thickness you want from any hardware store. They are just underground water lines. Then you buy the joints from the same place. I advise not to PVC cement them as it's easier to clean them when you can pull them apart and wash the pieces. oh and also, if I were you, I would buy the pipe cutting tool for it. The scissor type cutters suck and don't cut clean or straight.

Thanks. I'm switching out most of my racks for caging that's taken me half a year to acquire. I've got 2 weeks off coming up and my goal is to revamp my snake room in that time. They will love these. And I never thought of making one for outside. That's great!

I only see one perch for the Kings in the pic, but you reference multiple Kings. Do you house Kings together? or are there more perches not pictured?

    Re: Jungle Gyms

There's a second stepped perch for the other king out of the picture. Identical design, so I decided not to crowd the table. If I put the kings together I'd need an incubator.

I'm working on re-drawing my original sketch, I'll post it when I'm done, with a chart of sizes.

These are made from 1/2" whit PVC - 1/2" inner diameter. For our big snakes we use 3/4". The elbows, tees, and caps are off-the shelf from the plumbing section of the hardware store. The 3-way corners are not for plumbing, ordered from Home Depot. I also have some full crosses that IIRC Menard's had in stock at the store.

Pipe was cut with a cordless sawzall clone. I did the math for the designs, as I had some size limitations, when my husband made some for our bigger snakes last spring he did everything on the fly (working in 2' and 3' tall AP cages made that easier!).

    Re: Jungle Gyms

I built this, and a duplicate, for my ball python and Caulkers Cay boa and they seem to enjoy it. I often see them exploring at night. I plan on customizing it to fit my new T10's when they arrive next week.

I got the PVC from Home Depot online and just had it shipped free to the store.

    Is that black pvc? Wow!
    Everyone here has great designs.
Now I have to try to be creative. Eeew
I'm going to need different diameters...
I have subadult to adult: corns, BP's, Rosie's, DRMB, Dumerils
    adult: Cubans
under a year: AHS, corn, Spotted, Rosie's, SD, Olives on the way
And does anyone have a design for an outdoor one? Maybe on wheels? So I could keep it in my garage but easily bring it out to the yard for playtime? My Dum girl is 7 feet and she does enjoy climbing.

    Wow

BR8080, did it come black? Or did you paint it? It looks great. Of course the OP's look great as well ^_^ I might be inspired to make something like this for my Axolotls.

    0.1 Fire (Calypso)
    0.1 Pied (Tessa)
    0.1 Albino Kingsnake (Nienna)
