Well it doesnt hurt to try and find her. Especially if you know the college. You cam try searching the college on facebook. Then look through people who tagged themselves going there

Agree, she probably wouldn't be that hard to find, and at this point, I'd say it looks like your best bet. Odd that if you take that approach (she would want to know) that the present "care takers" won't give you her name... Anyway, you or the niece (assuming she does care) could probably arrange to perhaps have someone from the local herp society or a local rep. savy person to get the snake and mail it FedEx (not sure how that works from the Sender's end), or perhaps they can find someone local can give it a good home.

I completely agree that stealing an animal is wrong and I would never have even considered it until I saw his conditions. It would be illegal to steal him, but it's inhumane to let him live like that. There are many other ways to go about it, and I tried as many as I could think of. Do you have any ideas that could help him?

Depends how far you are willing to take it, if they are not interested in getting this animal back to health even though it has been pointed out that this snake’s life is in jeopardy, if they are not interested in surrendering the animal with the owner's consent (to person or shelter), and you believe that the animal's life in in peril and you are the witnessing animal cruelty than it should be reported as such.

Once reported you have done your part and it’s in their hands. If animal control deems it is necessary to intervene the animal will be ceased and they will be under investigation, and charges could be filed.
