    Bubbles from nose?

Hi everyone, noticed a buddies nile monitor had bubbles coming from its nose when I visited. Asked about it and apparently that's the first time it happened.
    Some questions:
Could that be from getting water in the nostril? it was only 1 nostril
Could it be from substrate getting in there?
Could it be normal amounts of saliva but the monitor was very excited because he was eating at the time and saliva came out through the nostril because his mouth was closed?

    Some info:
His monitors basking spot is at 145-150f
Cool side ranges in spots from 70-75, and 75-80
    Mid enclosure is 80-85
    Hot side is 90
    Humidity ranges from 60-70-100%
    Ambient temp is upper 80s

Any info is appreciated as he is very worried about an RI. Although I have read it is normal for them to sneeze and blow bubbles once in a blue moon due to water getting into their nose, or substrate. Wanted to tell him that but thought I'd wait for more experienced people to chime in so I am posting here.

Any help appreciated and I will convey it to my buddy
    Thanks,
    -Mike

    Re: Bubbles from nose?

How large of a Nile, how large of an enclosure? How many lights are generating the basking spot?

The basking spot temp seems pretty high, as does the ambient temp. Consider dropping the basking site by 10-15 degrees, and the ambient by a few (mid 80s).

    Re: Bubbles from nose?

The nile is 10 to 15 inhes, in a 7x4x3, 2 par38 60 watt flood bulbs generating the basking spot which covers about a 20-25 inch diameter

I'll suggest dropping the basking spot by 10-15 degrees and the ambient to mid 80s

    Hopefully it isn't an RI

That enclosure would be good for a nile up to about 3.5-4', which should be a good while.

As for where the temperatures should be:

Basking Temperature: Some say 90-100, others 120, but Savannahs are known to bask at 145 or higher. As the animal shouldn't spend all day trying to bask, anywhere from that 120 to about 135 should be fine.
Ambient: Mid 80s should be fine.
Cool side and Night Time Temps: Mid 70s to 80 degrees

Humidity: This can actually br fairly low comparative to other species. 60 is fine, but 100% is pretty excessive. I'd keep it in the 60s to 80s.

Actually, drop the lights by 5-10 watts amd add a couple more ventilation holes. Something where the air flows from the hot to the cool side would be nice. This would reduce the overall temp slightly, and drop the humidity.
