    Unsure of the sex of my kingsnake.

    Just picked up this lav striped cal king and in trying to figure out the gender. Here are some pics of the tail to help. I tried popping it and it musked all over me, so some help would be appreciated lol.


    From what I can tell, the tail appears short so I'm thinking female, I also didn't evert any hemipenes. Do that's my guess, I could be wrong though. Help please, and thank you of course.

    I have zero experience in sexing or breeding snakes but I've been told the same thing as you about the length of the tail being shorter in females .

    The funny thing is I was going to guess male as the tail looks quite long to my untrained eyes

    It does look kind of long in the picture I'll admit, but in person it appears much shorter and seems to thin out pretty quickly compared to my male corn snake.
