Fake rock hide fell 3 inches -.-
Hey everyone, I lifted a fake rock hide to check if a mouse was under there still (and possibly decomposing) - thankfully it wasn't, it had been eaten, but my monitor was under there unexpectedly. So I lifted the hide kinda like a hinged door, first half up and back of the hide still connected to the ground. When I went to put the hide back down it slipped and fell about 3 inches onto my monitors head and tail I feel like such a crappy person and am beating myself up over it hard. He appears fine, was moving fine and everything.
Should I be concerned? will he be ok? I am so mad at myself

trust me he is fine.. Think about all the beating they take in the wild. Reptiles are quite the hardy animals to be honest.

Monitors take a licking and keep on ticking.

My two cents is to check the animal for any obvious injuries such as cuts, limping, etc... If you see nothing, you're probably fine. Just keep a close eye on him for a bit, but I'm pretty sure you're good to go. Like the members above said, these are resilient animals who have survived in nature for thousands of years.
I'd be freaking out a bit at first too, but hey, we are human and we do make mistakes. Don't beat yourself up, you're good to go!!

I hear you; they feel so fragile, especially when they are little. I still handle my sub adult boa with kid gloves (he's almost 4 ft long) and my new yearling is treated like fine crystal. I know its probably a bit unnecessary, but i think its always better to err on the side of caution.

Accidents happen. Just check to see for any noticeable damage. If nothing obvious stands out I'm sure he is fine.
