    coral glow pied

Hello everyone, I am new here as this is my very first post. Its about time I became a member. . lol.

My question to any members who would be kind enough to give me their opinions or advice. I have come across a male coral glow pied for 600 dollars. The snake has only one eye. I'm assuming this would not have any sort of effect on the snake's ability to breed. Do you guys/gals believe this to be a grab? I'm thinking seriously about purchasing as I have 2 het females and want to start a pied project. Any comments will be appreciated . . Thank you!

If you want to breed quality is EVERYTHING, yes it's a great deal but personally I would not breed a deformed/ snake or a snake that is not flawless PERIOD.

The issue might not be genetic but it could be as well.

If you want to produce quality animal that sell SELECTIVE breeding should be more important than price tag, that means breeding the best possible example of a morph that is free of defect.

    Re: coral glow pied

Thanks for your thoughts. I was wondering if it could be genetic. I guess I will have to find out. The snake has been produced by a reputable breeder I must say.

I agree with Deborah. I would not even purchase a normal coral glow pied knowing it came from a one eyed parent due to the risk of adding that gene into my collection. It is not very responsible to breed or sell it as a breeder. I would think a respected breeder would agree.

I would double check to see if that's from feeding a live rodent or if it was born with just one eye. If it's from damage I'd say it's OK to breed. If not, I'd keep it as a pet only. I'm guessing its genetic thus the ridiculously low price.

Yeah, no breeder. I personally would only take something like that for free. It is investment enough that you have to feed and take care of it for 30 years.

This really doesn't make sense to me because by the time you prove that it is not genetic you will have spent way more than if you just saved up for a normal animal. To prove it you would need at least three generations, and that still doesn't prove that animal does not carry genes for it.
