My new cutie
Two days ago I got a call from a friend of mine who works at the local Petco. She told me that they had a leo up for adoption. They adopt out the ones that loose their tail after getting roughed up by other leos. I set up the habitat and introduced the little one to her new home. My friend said the little one's a female. I haven't had a chance to get a good look to see if I can tell the sex yet. I don't want to mess with her till she's had a chance to get used to her new surroundings before I start handling her. I'll give her at least a week. Anyway, here is the link to a picture I took yesterday.

I don't have a name yet. Thinking of Daisy if she is indeed a girl. Not sure of a name for a boy though. Any suggestions?

Re: My new cutie
I like Daisy. That's a good name. (of course I have Tigerlily and Dandylion, so ... flower names rock) Congrats on the new baby.

Re: My new cutie
Yeah for some reason when I first laid eyes on her I thought of Daisy. I have a question for the leo owners. I have a small setup in a 10gal glass tank with a small cave, piece of driftwood, and a humid hide made out of a ziplock sandwich container. In the humid hide I have moist moss and a hole cut into the lid. Which side should the humid hide be on?

Darn there's that cutsey pootsie leo face again! I love the name Daisy, really suits her. If her turns out to be him....I think....hmmmm....Milo! Don't ask me why, just looks like a Milo to me LOL.
I don't know squat about leo set-ups but that looks pretty.

Looks good, but you might wanna change the sand. Especially if she has a wound. Leos are constantly tasting and licking stuff, so they will eat sand, and when they catch their crickets they will get mouthfuls of sand with it. And when they eat the sand it can impact them and they will not be able to poop or digest and it will eventually kill them if you dont take action. And with the wound on the tail it can get on the wound and cause infections.
Nice gecko, got pics of its tail?

Re: My new cutie
She was on Zoo Med Desert White Repti Sand at the pet store so that's what I've stuck with. She's eating and pooping okay but I'll keep an eye on her. Her tail has already begun growing back. They had her under observation at the pet store to make sure the tail grew back some before adopting her out so she doesn't have any open wounds. I think she's a she cause there are no pores on tween her legs. She's still young though.
Here's a pic of her whole body.

Re: My new cutie
By the picture on the bottom, it appears that her tail did not drop off, but the skin on it was pulled off by one of her cagemates. This is worse than just dropping a tail. There is going to be a strong chance of infection no matter what you do.
1. You need to get rid of that sand. Go with paper towels until she is healed up completely.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic ointment (such a Neosporum) to the tail daily.

Okay I'll do that. Thanks
