    Food Diversity

Okay so one thing I've never really seen discussed is any non-rodent options for feeding BPs. Corn, Milk, and King snakes can all eat fish, frogs, lizards, and even worms. Has anyone ever explored these kinds of options for feeding their BPs, or is that something to stay away from?

I didn't have any plans to try any of these, just so you know, I was only interested in other people's experiences and knowledge.

Anyways, have a great day and I hope all is well.

With as finicky as BPs can be, I would avoid it as you don't want them getting on something other than the main food source. The other issue is where are you getting this stuff from?
    -Venomous-

1.0 - Naja siamensis - Zeus (Black & White Spitting Cobra)
1.0 - Naja n. woodi - Hades (Black Spitting Cobra)
    0.1 - Naja nigricollis - Athena (Black-necked Spitting Cobra)

coming at some point in the future
    Naja annulata (Ringed Water Cobra)

    Yeah
I had no intention of trying these at all. I'm not really a colubrid kind of person so I don't know /too/ much, but from what I've seen in videos and articles, sometimes they prefer non-rodent options like fish, frogs, and lizards.

I'm more of a colubrid person myself as well. Though I've kept and bred BPs in the past, never really was my niche. It's not that they prefer non-rodent options, it's that snakes are opportunistic feeders, so they'll sometimes eat other stuff. If you're getting stuff from the wild you're risking the snakes health because of pesticides and chemicals, etc...

Regarding fish, I see a lot of people, not on here but in general groups and stuff feed their snakes goldfish. This is absolutely the worst choice, and it'll kill the snake at some point. Same with rosy reds and minnows.

rodents are easy to find and cheap but there are f/t distributors that have a variety of feeders.

Out of curiosity, what about using goldfish/Rosey reds/minnows as a food source causes illness in the snake over time?

You beat me to the punch. Got tied up and couldn't check back. I wish more people would do a little research before offering their snakes those types of fish.
