New BP Owner
Hello! I thought I oughta introduce myself as well as my new buddy. I go by Peach, and my new BP is Basil.
Im a first time snake owner, but so far things are goin pretty good. We got Basil from a pet store on 1/2/17. Hes still pretty small but he had been eating about 2 Fuzzys a week. (According to the feeding chart they gave us, when they would feed him 2 in one sitting, he wouldnt take any at the next feeding which was 4 days later.)
We have Basil in the ExoTerra Medium Low Terrarium. The warm side is heated with a heat lamp, which keeps it around 90F, that side also has a hide (directly under the light) and moss in the opposite corner. On the cool side, its between 75 and 80, he has his water dish, a hide, and more moss.
We also just did his first feeding today, and it seems he has settled in pretty well, as he had 2 Fuzzies. There were some difficulties. With the first one, he grabbed it in the middle, so we had to adjust it for him; and with the second, he swollowed it backwards.
Anyway, sorry this post was so long, but heres some pics of him;

Welcome to the forum! I hope you enjoy keeping your beep.
a few suggestions though... those gauges you have stuck to the tank wall are pretty much useless. You should invest in a temp gun and a digital thermometer as well as a digital hygrometer. Can't really rely on analog gauges for squat.
Also judging by his size in comparison to those gauges... i'm kind of suspect about the amount of food your pet store told you to give him. Generally at that size (from what i can tell visually, i don't know his weight) he looks like he should at least be on hoppers, 1x week instead of 2 fuzzies every 4 days.
Anyway! Just my suggestions. Good luck!

I'd agree with everything you say although I still prefer to call them Royals - although I'd rather have them known as "beeps" than "balls"
I also agree about stepping up the food sizes .... Small mice at least .
( unsure what the equivalent in rats is tbh )

Re: New BP Owner
Hes only about the size of a quarter around, I was planning on upping the size of food soon, but I thought itd be better to wait until he got a little thicker?

Welcome to the forum Peachy.
I like the patern on Basil.
Don't worry how he eats, he will learn. The main thing is that he is eating.
Now if you see big pieces of substrate in his mouth it is ok to pull it out if possible. But don't worry if you can't. After all, they digest bones.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.
