what to pair a Pastel Desert Ghost female to ?? here are options..

I just bought a Pastel Desert Ghost female. I love Desert Ghosts and what they "do" to the other morphs.

Breeding has never been my main priority, I'm just a collector and admirer. However, these Desert Ghost possibilities are tempting..

"IF" I decided to breed my girl later on, what would be a good pairing ? I'm not worried about "profit" or what sells best, etc. She will also not be bred until 3rd year and heavy enough.

Which one of the following males would YOU get and WHY ??

    - Enchi Lemonblast Desert Ghost
    - Bumblebee Desert Ghost
    - Pastel Enchi Desert Ghost
    - Pastel Yellowbelly Desert Ghost

I've seen a few others (chocolate, black pastel butter combos) but they do not have that gorgeous contrast and color. Since I might never even breed, I want to love the "look" of the snake I'm getting, not just the possibilities it provides me with.

All 4 of the above are gorgeous

Let me know your thoughts...appreciate it

the only thing is...the Enchi Lemonblast Desert Ghost sort of looks like my Super (Killer) Blast male. I'm sure it will end up looking cleaner and has cooler genetics, but I don't want to end up with 2 snakes so similar. But he IS gorgeous, so its still tempting..

Hmmm I would prefer the pastel enchi desert ghost

I think the enchi helps focus on the brilliance of the color, and at the same time, offer some nice pattern to the BP, but really don't overwhelm it. Makes the snake look not too busy, and clean.

    Lets see...

I don't know if you have ever heard of the Desert gene complications with female ball pythons, although the morph itself is gorgeous and if made with the best matching genes to it can be stunning it has a potential problem you can face.
Females can have fertility problems, leading to slug eggs, and if some do have what seem to be fertile eggs, they can have laying issues and the eggs can get stuck.
I do not know if this applies to a female who has more than one gene to it, so I will limit what I say to what I know, I hope I helped, let us know what you final thoughts of it may be.
I'll leave a link for more information

Desert and Desert Ghost are two different genes.

Ah! Of course, that makes sense, I tough of them as a Desert and a Ghost (hypo).

Thanks for the suggestion. Another plus to picking the Pastel Enchi Desert Ghost is that the snake is gorgeous !!!

Of course I do not mind a "busier" pattern, so the Pastel Yellowbelly Desert Ghost is also nothing to sneeze at

But the Bumblebee Desert Ghost is the one that seems to tempt me the most, although the whole wobble thing is not something I'm real happy with.
All that said, I have a Bumblebee female and just adore that snake. If she has a wobble (which I'm sure she does) its so faint I never notice it. The worst I ever see is her having bad aim at the FT rat every now and then.

I could also wait a year or two, since my female needs longer to grow for breeding , then a male would . That way I could see what's available next year, and perhaps the ones I like might even drop in price by then. Again, I'm not in it for profit or worried about it. But if what I like is cheaper next year, that's not a bad thing, either....

Have you considered a leopard combo? Leopard goes exquisitely with desert ghost in my opinion, the crisp look of the desert ghost really sets off the color contrast and aberrant pattern of the leopard, and cleans things up. I would go for a leopard pin desert ghost or a leopard lemonblast desert ghost.

Out of your list I think I would go for the enchi lemonblast or the bumblebee, I'm a sucker for bumblebee desert ghosts but you have more posibilities with the enchi lemonblast, and the desert ghost pins are stunning as well. Something with a pattern mutation is the best way to go in my opinion, the desert ghost seems to really add to and clean up pattern morphs.

I love leopards, too, but haven't found a breeder that breeds leopards as well as desert ghost ? Don't seem to find many Desert Ghosts at all, but from the breeder I bought my girl from. I'm tempted by the enchi lemonblast, I just wonder what it will look like as an adult, I would like to keep as well as breed snakes that look really good as adults. I know all of them are brighter as hatchlings and young snakes, but it seems some morphs help out keeping them looking good

Do you know anyone that works with DG combos ??

Re: what to pair a Pastel Desert Ghost female to ?? here are options..

That is the hardest decision I think I've ever seen when it comes to ball pythons... are these all from the same breeder? If I were you I'd ask whether they have the chance of hitting like a enchi bumble bee this coming season.

Honestly it's up to you but any of the last three seem like really great choices. Ultimately I don't think it's a decision I could make if I had to...

I guess there is another option... buy them all haha
