Age of mice

Ok i wanna breed my own feeder mice I went out and bought 2 females and two males and two small cages with all the extras....now my question is how do I tell how old they are and how long after I get them should I throw the male in with the females? Any help is always appreciated Thank you in advance

Ok well for some reason my two male mice are fighting I don't know if I should only have I male but won't he get lonely or something when he is not breeding

You can't house males together as adults, just keep one and rotate him with the girls.

So should I leave the two females together and leave him by himself till I throw him in with the females....and when they get prego could I leave the two females together still and just take out the male? Thank you in advance

You can run it either way-generally mice are pretty good about raising litters together as long as they aren't overcrowded although sometimes it's not ideal. If one drops a large litter and then the other does a week or so later, you may lose some of the smaller ones since they can't compete as strongly. Occasionally stress will cause them to eat litters and not all mice are good breeders or parents. I've run 1.1-1.4 setups over the years depending on how many I needed and cages available. I rotate the males in and out and they have bachelor pads for when they aren't needed.

Ok I got rid of old males and got one new male I out him in the cage with the two females....I was watching them for a little bit (making sure they was gunna get along) one of the females will walk up to the male sweek and run away.... What is that is that good or bad? I mean I'm not seeing any harm done but I work third shift and dont wanna come home to dead mice lol.... Thank you

Well nvm on that their was "actions" being taking when happen to walk in the room to check on them... Since these actions where taken should I take him out or let him stay in they longer

I leave my girls in with the male for 2 weeks, then separate them. There is always squeaking when the girls don't want to be bred, but they go into heat frequently.
