Sauzo, didn't you say that you got Allie at a petsore? If so I'm just wondering if too many folks messed with her when she didn't want to be messed with.

None of my Carpets have ever shown any aggression whatsoever. I've even handled my JCP while she was in the blue, as we discussed in a previous thread. And sometimes I may go over a month or longer between handlings with all of my Carpets.

With your experience with snakes I'm confident that she will grow out of this behavior.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

    Allison progression thread

Reinz, I don't know for sure if the pet store does it but my first carpet Isabel was bought at a local pet store and she was quite fiesty. I'm sure that it doesn't help I can tell you that much. The other sub-adult carpets that came from Nick Mutton and Jason Baylin have never tried to bite and are very tame.

Yes she is feisty. Yes and no about the pet shop thing. She came from Nick Mutton. The original gal who ordered her ended up having to downsize her collection as she was having a second kid. So with the carpet and a couple boas being the newest animals she's gotten, she got rid of them. She is friends with the owner of the reptile shop that I got her from. So basically she ended up selling/giving about 3-4 snakes to the reptile shop owner who in turn put them up for sale after quarantine. She's weird. She eats like a champ but just isn't that fond of being handled. If left alone she is great. She reminds me of what I have heard GTPs are like. Great display animals but not a lap snake.

And yes Reinz, maybe she was messed with too much. She is mellowing out but its a slow process. I don't mind too much as I got a bunch of other lapdog tame snakes to mess with. As long as she continues to eat like a horse, I'm happy. Plus Caesar the retic is turning into a lap snake lol.

This is what a happy full Allison looks like. She just got done eating 2 extra large mice and almost fell off her perch while trying to coil up so she decided stretching out and balancing the food on each side of the perch was the best idea lol.

Thanks. Lol I wish. I've tried rats and she just looks at them and then crawls off. I've tried scenting them but she seems to still tell the difference lol. I might try later but for now, she can be a mouser. And she has grown, she about 3.5' now.
