Feeders cheaper online or at expos?

Repticon is coming to Raleigh next month and I need to switch to rats and up my prey size. I do only have one snake (as of the moment ) so buying in bulk wouldn't be the best. I know Perfect Prey has a smaller selection (quantity wise), but would it be cheaper to go to Repticon considering there's no shipping?

    Thoughts?

Usually they have show prices, and they're a small discount. Shipping Is a major pain in the neck, so buying from an expo saves that stress. However, the last expo I've been to had this vendor ( i can't remember the name) that sold F/T mice/rats right. Their prices we're ridiculous, 22 bucks for a 10 pack of rat pups. To me that's too little for that price.

It depends honestly. Before repticon took over the shows in Louisiana, they had good prices at the shows. The times I've been to repticon the prices have been horrible. The only thing that wasn't terribly priced was the pinkies and fuzzies. Anything after that was a huge rip-off.

The best thing to do is find somebody nearby and split shipping.

i just went to a show to buy food for my rats and had to pay double the going rate for the same bag of food from the manufacturer, however i saved a little money on the shipping. So in the end i decided to just cave into the higher per bag price for convince and to overall save money.

Same scenario can be applied to your situation.

    Thanks for the responses guys!

I'll have to see how much they're selling their feeders (from Feeder Source) at Repticon. Or if they even sell in small quantities. Right now I'm looking at about $37 shipped for 5 rat pups and 5 weaned rats. A little much for just 10 IMO.

    I'll just wait and see

Online is only ever worth it if you buy bulk and buy that I mean 100 prey minimum otherwise shows are a better option.

Usually you can contact who ever the feeder vendor is and pre-order what you need, if you don't make it your first stop because on some stuff they sell out fast (they will keep your purchase in their freezer while you go around the show.)

That's a good idea, I'll definitely be in contact with them prior to the show. Thanks Deb!
