More aggressive feeding during summertime??

When I fed the two bps yesterday, I noticed alot more aggressive feeding. ha ha...My female ate 4 mice and was looking for more. Does that have anything to do with it being generally warmer everywhere during the summer? I just wondering because most breeding info says that female feeding is increased in august...is the beginning of summer the reason?

Also, when you up the feeding do you just give her all she can take or do you try to limit it to prevent her from getting fat? My female is about 700 grams and took 4 smaller adult mice(19g) is that about usual for that size female? She seemed like she would have took another but I did not want to push it.

I noticed a lot more uniform feeding across our collection. During the winter months quite a few were eating irregularly (some would skip a feeding or two) - now that summer is almost upon us they have been a lot more consistent - in the last 3 weeks the only ones who refulsed were in or close to shed.

Not only bps, but my kingsnakes exibit the same behavior in the summer or warmer months. It seems like they will eat endlessly to the point that they will eat at least two times a week and still act hungry(darn pigs ).

i cant be 100% certain whether its the warm weather or the fact that i switched to rats but monty had not eaten for 4 weeks in a row (not big in the scheme of things but his personal record) and tha twas right after a shed too!!


then he ate one mouse the following week his first rat and then this week his second usually (and dont forget ive had him since september lotsa winter months in NY) in 3 weeks he will skip a feeding once!!!

Eleanor just broke a 9 month fast by eating a mouse and two medium rats within the span of two weeks. She actually strikes and constricts now, for about the last year or so she used to just swallow her food without any enthusiasm. I think in my case it's the combination of a cage that actually holds heat and summer finally coming (though it's gone from a humid 95 to a wet 55-60 in one day!)

I have to agree; all of my snakes are currently feeding; even the difficult one with the messed up eye that I rescued a few months back. Maybe it has something to do with longer daylight hours? What ever it is, I hope it lasts.
