    Tanami the Woma Python

    I got a Woma! I got a Woma!

We went to Reptile Rapture (Monona, WI, Madison suburb) yesterday to pick up a hoggie for my husband (she gets a thread next), and I failed to resist the baby Woma they had. Male, born April 23rd of this year, Reptile Rapture bred him. Didn't bring the scale to the bedroom (where he and Dizzy the Hoggie are in quarantine) up to weigh him yet.

What a sweetheart! No aggression at all so far, even when the dog wanted to inspect him this morning. And those eye spots just make me squee. Named him Tanami, after the Tanami desert in Australia, where some strains of Womas come from (don't know if he is a Tanami Woma).

Tanami was hard to get pictures of last night, he was busy exploring. He didn't seem to get using hides, so my husband put him in one this morning. He didn't stay in it, but by the time I left he'd buried himself in the substrate, with just his head sticking out.

I made a nice discovery last night, if you put a phone down flat on a screen top, the screen disappears when it focuses on what's down on the floor of the cage - these pictures were all taken that way.

Oops, the first and third pictures were taken through the screen. Second was from the front through the glass.

    Re: Tanami the Woma Python

Congrats on getting Tanami! I can't wait till I can get a woma. They are supposed to have awesome temperaments, and I love that they are diurnal. So during the day they will be out and about. I have a big exo terra I'm saving for a woma once I get my own place. I would like one "display" snake that I can see during the day. All of my ball pythons are in racks.

Keep us updated on him. I'd like to see how fast he grows!

He's very mellow. I had him out last night and he was mostly content to hold onto my hand and look around doing little exploratory stretches this way and that. We also did a couple mutual nose-boops.

Don't get much cuter than baby woma pythons (as far as snakes go). We have been searching for quite a while now and got lucky this weekend. We picked up a trio from a breeder in Cali. The should ship Monday and we can't wait!

    Re: Tanami the Woma Python

We moved our BPs to a rack on Saturday, so Tanami got upgraded to one of the half-T8s. An hour or two after the move he was checking things out from his eggs:

I may be slightly partial, but Womas are just the BEST! Good looking kid you have there!

    More Photos needed!

    Cheers,
    Kat
