    Substrate for an expected mother

I have been doing my research on the egg laying process, and have noticed that several places mention that the female bp will push the loose substrate around and kinda make a 'nest' in the LOOSE substrate. I use newspaper which would not be that easy to make a 'nest' in. When I finally get a gavid female, should I start keeping her on a loose substate until she lays the eggs or is the newspaper ok?

Newspaper is fine. The moms will usually crawl under it and just lay on the box floor. I've had eggs laid on just about every substrate you can think of and it makes ZERO difference.

ha....ya i guess when she is going to lay it makes no difference what substrate she is on...the eggs have to come out weither she likes it or not.

So the eggs always end up on the bottom of the enclosure. Do people use disposible cage mats to stick to the bottom of the enclosure to prevent the eggs from getting stuck and help out with removing them? or is it really not a big deal?

It's really not a big deal.

I've only had eggs "stick" to sterilites every now and then. Nothing sticks to the Iric CB-70's because they are coated with some type of oil I'm told??? They work great!

Even when they "stick" you can just take your time and slowly remove them. I had to take some bad eggs out of the incubator this morning that were "stuck" to good eggs and you just have to be patient and work them out carefully ... same thing if they "stick" to your box.

That's the nature of the game. EVERYONE has eggs that go bad. No matter what you do, it's unavoidable.
