most popular/least popular morph
What is the most popular (or the one in highest demand) and least popular morphs (or least demand) out there? Which morph is being produced the least?

Re: most popular/least popular morph
I'm not sure about least popular or least produced, but I would have to guess that albinos and piebalds are in the highest demand - perhaps simply because they are the most recognizable and striking morphs.
Kara, Adam, Joe Compel and the other breeders here should be able to give us a more in depth answer.

....I was guessing pastels were the highest in demand.
I guess the overall demand would be hard to determine....say one breeder gets a bunch of requests for pastels and few for albinos while another breeder hears the complete opposite...

Re: most popular/least popular morph
Overall the most demand is probably for pastels. Co-dom trait and cheapest of the morphs. The one most people seem to like is piebalds (i could be wrong) and the least popular seems to be the orange ghost....out of the big showy morphs. I'm not counting genetic stripe or black back or reduced pattern.
This is just what i've observed in forums.

Re: most popular/least popular morph
I'd have to say Orange Ghost females are one of the highest in demand.

Re: most popular/least popular morph
The economist inside of me is cringing as I read the above posts.....
The morphs that carry the greatest demand are those that have the highest price. Examples being the plattys, super-whatevers, spiders, etc. The price is so high because the demand for those morphs far exceed the supply. I'm not saying thats the ONLY factor that determines the price of those guys, but its got a lot to do with it.
Pastels and albinos are somewhat less expensive because they are bred by more people and thus more readily available.
I'd probably guess that the morph with the highest demand is probaby NORMAL. Look at how many people have morphs vs. how many people have normals. The price on normals is so low because thye are being produced in numbers that meet that demand.
Kind of a trick question, huh?

I am confused..

Not really a trick question....
Yes, there is demand for ball pythons of all types. Just that some morph supplies to meet the demand are low so the prices are high. The pre-existing prices from previous years also dictate the demand for certain morphs in certain cases. Everyone would love to have a lesser platinum, but not everyone has the money to get one. So even though the lesser platinum supply is limited, the potential buyers are also limited...thus reducing the demand. On the other hand, pastels are everywhere these days and alot more people can afford to pay for a pastel...thus increasing the demand. Thats why owning a lesser platinum is not even a thought for me at the moment....but owning a pastel is. Personally, I had not considered owning a pastel due to price before now, but this year I have been seeing some going for around $700 which makes owning a pastel alot more realistic to me.
Also, I still see bumblebees and some other high end morphs available from last year, but I do not see anyone selling hypos or albinos from last year. Why is that?
I am just trying to make figure this all out....thanks
