Ouch!! Lucky for me Satin just bit and released (and my bf was in the room if I needed help), but I'm sure you can never be too careful! We keep a spray bottle in the room (we have an elderly cat who's territory is our room and the other kitties like to come in to steal her food or mess with her) so I'll keep it in mind!!

Lol grats. I just chalked up another snake bite from my 4' BP a couple days ago. Was my fault though. All of my snakes are really mellow and I've never been bit by any of them when I pick aspen that is half hanging out of their mouths as they are eating but I probably didn't wash my hands good enough and when doing it for Dottie, she grabbed my index finger up to the 2nd knuckle and latched on. She then played the "lets drag this skinny 2nd rat into the hide to eat it". So she was pulling my finger around the cage lol. I ended up picking her up with her still on my finger and dunking my finger and her head into her water bowl. That got her to let go. She then looked at me, adjusted her jaw and crawled into her warm hide to digest the actual rat she ate. Meanwhile I was dripping blood all over from finger lol. I've been bitten by so many of my snakes and my monitors that I'm more or less immune to the shock value haha.

Re: *WARNING GRAPHIC PICS* First Real Bite!!

Persephone is only a few months old, and is AMAZINGLY tame for a baby. She's my first snake since high school, when I had my last RTB, Nirvana (r.i.p. still miss her) oddly enough my mother forbade live feeding, and Nirvana was pretty aggressive. Persephone is live fed and is the sweetest calmest boa I've ever known. She's never bitten me. I do not feed in her terrarium, I have a special cage for feeding. My first feed with her I almost got tagged when I tried taking her out too early. She got VERY defensive. After that, I now know to wait until she sticks her head up to take her out. Masochistically (sp?) Though, I sort of want her to, just to see what a baby bite is like...

I hope she didn't lose any teeth! It's so hard to resist the urge to yank away when a snake bites, but it's important to at least try, haha.
