I think there is one exception though when you can't cross breeders lines and I think it is the Axanthic. I am definetly not sure ,but from other sites I have heard this

Nerd Line and Bell Line are two different blood lines -

So I don't know how you could say they're the same pastels.
And personally, I think Lemon Pastel's look amazingly better.

And yes, you can breed different lines of Pastels together ...
    To produce supers.

Re: can you cross breed pastels

They are the same genetically (otherwise they wouldn't be compatible!)

There are some morphs (some in other species) where there are different genes resulting in the same (or similar) mutation. Take the three forms of anery cornsnake for example.

Actually, if you're referring to Lemon's, they're not the same. They're compatible, but the Lemon Pastel is a distinctly different lineage.

Re: can you cross breed pastels

Pastel lines are crossable (if that's a word), but what would happen if you bred one of those supers to a normal? Would you get pastels and lemon pastels? Would it be like breeding a Pewter to a normal - getting pastels and cinnys?
For Ball Pythons, Axanthic lines and Ghost lines for the most part aren't compatible. Unfortuately it really depends on the line. Some are, some aren't, so it's best if you don't know to buy from the same lineage.

I think you would get a mix of lemon looking pastels and other line looking pastels. Someone experienced enough working with lemons might be able to identify the more lemon babies, but I don't think that they could be sold as tried and true lemons. Basically, the offspring would be "blended".

Some axanthic lines are not compatible, but with the exception of the new co-dom hypos that Greg Graziani is working with, the general consensus among the breeding community is that all straight ghost/hypo lines are compatible. Things like burgundy hypos, desert ghosts, etc are not technically "ghosts" but something different that has ghost like qualities. Joe Compel talks about this on another thread on the site. I've personally crossed 4 lines of hypos as well as most of the color lines and all have bred true.

When investing in any mutation, buying from reputable breeders that have been around and knows their stuff will help you from buying “lines” that won’t work together.

Hope this helps clear things up.
