Ambient Air issues

Hello,

I am switching to a UTH to help with my cage's humidity (I have a screen top). I have a thermostat for the UTH and will set it at 95F so I can get a 90F hotspot. People say heat pads do nothing for ambient air temps. What are your thoughts for keep up my ambient temps?


Extra Info:

- 40 Gallon Tank
- I will have a damp towel covering 85% of the screentop (after I remove my heat lamp)
- My room temperature ranges from low to hi 70's (fahrenheit)

Space heater in the room is how I keep my ambient temps above the household temp.

Well you either need to heat the room the reptiles are in or heat the whole house to high 70s. Otherwise, you have to use something like a RHP or CHE to heat the cage ambient. No other way around it.

Aluminum foil covering most of the screen and insulating 3 sides of the tank with insulated bubble wrap had worked wonders for me.

I used 3/8 foam bottom,sides,back,top .but I had hole big enough for my light ,with the uth you'll get your hot spot and will warm area slighty.you should be fine . Plexiglass glass or duck tape top of screen saver some headaches.
