Dragon fish

Yesterday i was at the petshop and i saw these really cool "Dragon Fish"

Has anybody owned one before ?

Ive heard alot of conflicting information about them and thier size and what they eat.

Some say they grow to about 12-15 inches and some say they get bigger to like 22 inches.

Some people say they eat guppies and some other people say they filter shrimp and blood worms and thats why they are hard to feed.

I think they are also called violet gobys ?

Can anyone help me out with some info or at least a good link ?

I have kept them in the past they arent extremly hard to keep but I wouldnt get it as my first fish either. They will eat anything they can get into there mouths, but they have extremly bad eye sight so they normaly wait until stuff get right in front of them. They one I had was a little over 12" when he passed on. The only reason I dont have any right now is that I dont have a tank set up but soon.

I think they are really cool.

I would love to get one but right now i only have a ten gallon tank and even though the fish at the petstore are all pretty small i know they will grow and ill have to upgrade to a larger tank soon.

Whats the bare minimum ?

I have my betta,6 neon tetras and 4 guppies in my ten gallon right now.

I could setup another ten gallon just for the dragon fish .....but i think it might be to small....

I would go no less than a 55gal for a adult dragon fish, but remember that you can add more than just that to the tank.
