[Mighty Morphin Balls]

Of those of you who have glass terriums in your room, how do protect your snakes from the bedroom lighting at night? Like so your snakes aren't getting too much artificial daylight at night. I'm wondering because I'm planning on getting myself a ball python and this popped into my mind. Any quick pics of what you all do to remedy this would be great too! Thanks and happy saint paddy's day!

My personal belief is that they will adjust, which most animals are good at.

However if you believe that is a problem,you can always tape dark paper around the back and sides and or partially the front of the tank or use hard-sided insulation.

Do you mean adjust like the snake going from being nocturnal to diurnal?

It doesn't seem to bother my snakes, they just adjusted to the light pattern.

They'll always be nocturnal. It's important for them to have a day/night cycle, but a few hours of artificial light in the evening shouldn't throw them off too badly. If you keep the lighting dim you'll probably see more activity from them.

Hey there, I keep my old normal in an exo terra large low terrarium, I have his lights on a timer and typically thrown a towel over the front of it. The sides and and back are covered with solid black window film that I got from homedepot, and the screen mesh has been modified to retain humidity and heat.

Along with my mods and CHE and UTH for the 36x18x12 enclosure, Hot sport is 90 and the ambient temp ranges from 82-86 depending on the time and humidity is in the 50%s. Use Herpstat 2. (just in case anyone wonders)

I wouldn't say they're not nocturnal so much as they just deal with the abnormal light pattern in my room, though they will be awake at random times and do eat in the middle of the day. It probably helps that I tend to keep my window mostly covered because I get home late from work a lot so I don't like to be woken up early by the light of the day haha.
