Thoughts on drugs and sports ...

My favourite female tennis player Sharapova - admits to taking a drug / medicine for ten years even though the recommended duration is 4 to 6 weeks max !!! Plus it's for people with heart problems !

Makes you wonder if a certain male player who puts his success down to excluding gluten has been taking something as well

When there is millions at stake and pretty much everyone is on something I don't blame any of them or take anything away from the accomplishments because there's a damn good chance everyone competing against them is on Something too.

More reason I think almost all pro players are TRASH and sad that our children look up to them instead of people that make real differences.

I think if they stopped making PEDs so taboo and just accepted them as the progress of modern medicine that they are we could stop bashing them. If you want the big money and want to be the absolute best athlete you can be, PEDs are part of the deal. No different of a drug than any other, they have an upside and side effects. It's nothing new either, top athletes have been using for generations now.

But also I agree with you, there are plenty of other people that children should look up to.

I agree and feel the same way, I have always thought that professional athletes were WAY WAY over paid. I remember my sports days in school, and I was very good, and I did it because it was FUN and self rewarding. In my Jr and Sr year when I led our conference in rushing yards and had my name and # in the newspapers and on every other window of our local businesses prior to Friday night games, the younger kids looked up to that and wanted to be that. There was no taking a drug to make yourself perform better, it was all honest blood sweat and tears and working on the farm 7 days a week thru the summer and off season to get at the level I was at.

I graduated summer of 2000. Summer of 2001 I was talking to four different recruiters. Three were from colleges for sports scholarships ...... The other was from the United States Navy. At around 9am on Sept. 11th 2001, I made my decision which recruiter I was going to choose. By Nov. 4th 2001, I was on a plane on my way to boot camp. (You'll never see a sports recruiter work that fast)
I was gone for 4 years doing what I believed in, doing things that I now will only talk about with a few select individuals, and other things that I will never disclose to anyone. Believe me, that holds more stress than ANY multi million dollar paid athlete will ever come close to fathoming for any game or contract.

Luckily for me when I returned home I still had much the same respect and admiration from my community as I did when I left, more than any high dollar famous name and Jersey would ever bring.

Besides the fact that both Woody Hayes and Cy Young were both from my hometown ..... There was no room there for another superstar

This is my opinion ..........I wish we could have " clean sports" but I think in this day and age that will never happen. You have a slim chance of being even slightly competive if your not on peds in a lot of sports , (At a professional level.) Anyone that has taken them I think can agree with that to a extent. There's always ways around the test , new products being produced to beat the old
    test .Just my .02.
