    Waiting is the hardest part...

A couple months ago my son came to me and asked if he could get a BP for his 16th birthday. I was all for it and after a little coaxing, the wife decided it was ok and we started researching and slowly gathering what we would need to properly house and take care of a BP. A few weeks ago and after looking at what seemed to be thousands of pictures and talking to various breeders, he finally decided on a Mojave GHI that wont be ready until sometime next month. So it looks like it will be more of a birthday/Christmas present for him. He has probably asked me 10 times when it would be here and I have to keep telling him to be patient.

It seems that in all our searching for my son's BP, I seem to have caught the bug myself and started looking for one for me, unbeknownst to the wife. I figured it would be easier to ask for forgiveness than permission of i just randomly showed up home with a BP of my own one day. I thought this weekend was going to be the time to do it. My son and I had plans to go to the Repricon show in Orange County and there I would get my first BP. Unfortunately my RHP's did not arrive in time and I decided I did not want to half-ass a temporary home for a BP. So we went anyways and I while talking to Mike Porter (bigfish1975) I decided on my first BP. It will be a week or two before I can go pick him up and I find myself looking at the pics I took of him often. I can't wait to pick him up and the wait sucks. But I guess patience is a virtue.

So here are the first pics which will be the start of our collection.

My sons: 0.1 GHI Mojave (from Tracy Barker @ VPI) (sorry for the poor quality pic, but it is all I have)

and mine: 1.0 Leopard Jigsaw (From Porters Pythons)

Congratulations. What a great thing that you can share this hobby with your son. Waiting is always the worst part. But always worth it. I really like that leapord jigzaw.

Your story sounds kind of familiar to Mark Mandic over at Markus Jayne. Look out, you'll have 20 before you know it. And Mike is a great guy to buy from, got my Pieds from him.

I think I can get away with two. 20 and my wife would give me a new home.

I am hoping she comes around though. She absolutely hates snakes. She has been wanting a teacup poodle for sometime, so I may have to give that some serious thought to keep in her good graces.

Very true, Ball Pythons have changed a lot of minds over the years.

Nice pickups! Mojave GHI and Jigsaw Leopard are awesome! You're starting where I am trying to get to. I'm hoping to produce some Mojave GHI combinations this season, and working Leopard into what I can. Look forward to seeing what you produce with these two.

Thanks! I am looking forward to it as well. And to think when I started this journey a few months back I had no intention of getting more than one snake never mind wanting to breed them. Haha. These little beutys are addictive.
