    Adult weight??

I have an adult bp. I think female.... She is 1700 grams. I feel that's a bit small? I have no intentions of breeding. She has weighed the same for over a year even during a hunger strike. She gets one medium rat every other week.

Is this ok? Should she weigh more or get more food? Thanks!

Sounds like a healthy weight and feeding schedule. You're doing just fine.

No need for more food. You don't want to feed a BP anything larger than a medium rat whether you're breeding or not.

It's more of having an animal that has good proportions than one that weighs X grams.

All females are not created equal, I have some females one the "smaller" side 1600/1800 many in the 2000+ grams range and a few over 3000+ and even one at 4000 grams.

If she looks good that's really the most important.

She's a hair on the thin side from what I'm used to, but I've always had pretty plump girls. She looks healthy though, which is all that matters.

I have to disagree, I had a 3100+ gram cinnamon a few years ago that would get pissy if she only got a medium. She would eat it, then get restless like she was looking for more food. If our Het Ax girl didn't eat her small, and the cin only got a medium, we would give the small to the cin and she would curl up on her hot spot perfectly happy. We switched her to medium/large and eventually to larges and she was content with a single rat then. Oh, and that was feeding weekly, not every other week. Big girls like to eat.

I agree with Franklin she's just a wee bit thin IMO but she still looks healthy. You could try feeding her every 7-10 days for a while if you want to bulk her up some.

    Re: Adult weight??

Thanks everyone! Yeah she was on a 6 month feeding strike when I got her. She was a rescue. And she just started eating a few months ago. I'll switch to a medium every 10 days instead of 14 and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice!
