    Snake in back yard

I've never seen this type of snake before - what is it?

Gartersnake. I say this because it appears to be stocky and have the dark stripes on the labial scales. It also appears to be missing the crescent in front of the eye that ribbon snakes have.

Back in the day (see how old I am) I use to catch screamin' blue garter snakes around the Lake Okeechobee area and sugar cane fields while herping. I really miss doing that and need to make time to do it again.

    Re: Snake in back yard

I only saw it because my cat was staring at it. I freaked and ran to catch him (the ) because I didn't recognize it......
