Ok, my Okeetee corn snake has been very friendly, loves to be held, eats great..one pinkie each Tuesday (he's 15 inches, very small) but as of yesterday you can't touch him. He rattles his tail like a rattler and coils back to snap at my hand. He did look like he was about to go into shed (eyes were blue) but he never did shed and now eyes are black again.

Will he go back to normal or stay mean like this? I don't know why he changed. Is it because he is trying to shed or that time of year or what??
    Thanks

    Corn snake suddenly mean??

Well typically when a snake sheds, after it's gone blue it will turn normal color again for a day or two before it actually sheds, so are you sure he isn't actually just shedding?

Well, I am still new to snakes..could be. He doesn't look at all like any shedding is taking place like my BP's do when they shed. But would this cause him to be mean?

Not mean, but scared. At least when their eyes are blue, they can't see and that's stressful. I'm not sure though.. now that he's not blue anymore. Maybe just the act of shedding is stressful and he's a bit irritable. I don't really know though.

    Bot info

Shedding is an uncomfortable and stressful time. They often feel vulnerable and as a result can be a bit more defensive and 'moody' - especially whne their eyes are opaque as it's more difficult to see. That's why it's best to just leave them alone.

If you know she is shedding, give her time to finish before you try and handle her.

I dont think shedding would make then very irritable, like shelby said, hes prolly just scared.

I really wouldent know becuase my baby corn seems to want to be mean ALL THE TIME.She loves to hiss and rattle her tail, before i thought it was kinda cute but now im getting tired of her grumpy *butt*.........nah just kiddin, i love her to death
