Question Should I go for it??

I've been browsing craigslist looking for a tank to upgrade my BP to and I think I've found a perfect one... But it comes with a snake. It's a black and white banded king snake that seems a little small for the 55 gallon tank. So I might make the purchase and switch him to 20 gallon my BP is in and put my BP in the 55 gal. I texted the guy and he showed me pics.. He seems like he took very good care of it and it is healthy, I will try to get you guys the picture, he's about 1 1/2 years old and seems the right size (guy says he eats like a horse) but I'm no expert. The reason I want this so bad: it's $50 for a whole 55 gal set up(looks real nice too!) and a gorgeous snake. How can I say no!?! What do you guys think? Any more questions I should ask him? (I covered past health issues, shedding, feeding, temperament, size and age(great on all of those)) should I go for it?? I'll try to get a pic up soon

    Sounds selfish to me.
Do you plan to inform the current owner of your intentions?

Sorry you feel that way, and yes of course I would, if he didn't like the idea of me downsizing the snakes cage I would respect him and let him sell to someone else. And I guess I should have mentioned this, but I was planning on putting another snake in my BP's 20 gallon anyway, and if it, in the future, were to outgrow that home, I would upgrade it too. If you found a great deal on a healthy snake that you have room and time to care for, and someone else couldn't care for it anymore, wouldn't you be interested?

I'd do it! New tank and new snake, what's not to like?

You don't need to inform the seller of anything, that's nonsense.
Once you buy an animal it's yours to do as you please.

I agree with AE. You don't have to inform the previous owner of your intent to change the animal's enclosure. Your only obligation is to give the snake a good home.
