    Growth Spurt

Pappy is getting a bit large for the general pythons forum so he's moving over here.

Papuan python, Liasis papuana. They spent their first 100 or so years - post description - as Liasis. Then were thrown into the Morelia genus for a few years in the early 90s. Finally given their own genus, Apodora papuana, in 1993 until recently getting chucked back into Liasis.

Cool snake! Thanks for the pics.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

Beautiful! A shop near me had a 12' Papuan for sale for a while. She was huge and thick and an absolute doll to handle.

Too bad you didn't snap some pictures, always love seeing other paps! Rumor is these can get up to 17 feet(for eastern types) but I haven't seen any quite that big yet. My first was a female and she was in the 12-14 foot range when I rehomed her. The adults are usually very docile and even fresh imports tend to be calm. They are active handlers though, not unlike retics. Pappy was my first experience raising one from a hatchling and he has always been super chill - not typical for the species from what I hear, nippy youngsters on average.
