You can see the glottis closed on the floor of her mouth - that's the windpipe that allows snakes to breathe even while consuming large prey items. Here's a pic with the glottis open:

That's "Scary" - a 20'+ Malaysian silver retic. Some of you may also recognize her from this pic:

    Enjoy!

To answer the question.. yes I have. At work there is a 19' retic, and it yawns on a fairly regular basis. They're so beautiful.

The last pic is awesome. Nothing like a retic's eyes.

That's awesome!!! Where do you work?

Isn't amazing when they yawn? It's like "do that trick where you open your mouth & your face disappears!"

It's so funny, I say snakes love to yawn. They stretch first one side, then the other of their jaws.

I work at Serpent Safari. It's a reptile zoo, and home to Baby, who is the world's largest snake. She's in the Guiness record book. 403 lbs 27' burm.

They actually have three retics there. A normal, a tiger, and a lavender albino.

Compadres, it is imperative that we crush the freedom fighters before the start of the rainy season. And remember, a shiny new donkey for whomever brings me the head of Colonel Montoya.
