    Meet Elphaba!

so this baby girl has been with me a few weeks now, got her on 6/21 in fact.
her name is Elphaba and she's a humble, but cute normal baby bp.

    welcome home!

    she's a climber!

for the first few days/nights, she did a lot of climbing.

    cool side of the tank.

a few interesting things from my first week with her:
-- i found her buried under the white aspen substrate against the glass more often than in her hides.
-- i once found her burrowed under her water dish!
-- so i got her new hides where she now spends probably 90% of her time if not more. the tree and log is still there for her to climb, but she prefers her rock hides. also got a her smaller water dish.

    She is pretty!

Very nice set up too! They do like snug fitting hides.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

Wow I really love love your set up. I did something pretty clean and simple, now I'm inspired to be more creative. Is that a type of moss you have mixed in with your substrate?

Beautiful snake and attractive setup. If I ever decide to make some kind of display cage for a ball python, I might use yours as inspiration. Very nice!

    Re: Meet Elphaba!

thanks y'all. i wanted to have a japanese zen look, but like i mentioned above - i don't think she was a fan of the trees as hides. so i got some rock hides to add. also i put some of that vinyl cling to the back and sides of the tank - it now looks like jungle temple ruins.

here is Elphaba actually sleeping in her tree. when i misted and she poked her head out.

    oh noes, misted! 2 cold.

    hmmm... which hide?

    hot hide.

when i get more bp's, i'll use tubs. i thought they would roam more and i would like to display the collection i'll build, but i think they would rather hide. lol

I was considering tubs for when I breed in a few years, but the idea makes me feel bad. We think they would like a nice tank to explore, but maybe that's just what we would want.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the reputable breeders use tub racks, so it can't be bad. I just like to be able to see them.
