Do I need a belly heat?
I have my cool side with 27.5 Celsius and warm side with 30-31 Celsius. I have a purple heat lamp 24/7 so that I can have the ambient temperature. Also the wattage of the heat lamp is no that high. The question is do I need to have a belly heat? My ball python is doing great, pooping great, and explores the terrarium everyday (at night), etc. She didn't eat last week though because I offered her a f/t when she only eats live ones so I guess it's not cause of my "husbandry". Now do I need absolutely need to go and buy one?

Re: Do I need a belly heat?
I used to do belly heat, but now I just heat the room. I keep it around 88 with no problems at all.

I have a 13 yr old BP that has never had belly heat. She has not vomited or regurgitated in the 5-6 yrs that I've had her.
My adult Boa is doing fine w/o belly heat as well.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

Re: Do I need a belly heat?
What you need is to provide proper husbandry (temps and humidity) and do so however works best for you.
It can be lamp, UTH, room temps etc (there are + and - with each methods)

Your temps sound fine, and as long as your snake is doing all its little snakey things regularly, there should be no problem. For my python, I personally keep my cool side around 25 Celsius/77 Fahrenheit and warm side around the same as you. It seems like they might prefer a little bit more variety temp-wise, but that's just my opinion.
I don't know what kind of enclosure you're using, but when just using a heat lamp, remember to keep an eye on humidity. It should be between 50-60%. That's one of the big reasons UTHs are recommended over lamps alone, but if that's fine, more power to you.
