Not eating after moved and being bitten

So i have a normal ballpython which 4 weeks ago was 890grams. I had to move so I took him with me and fed him 2 days after I moved into my new house.

I feed him live so I gave him a small rat, the rat turned on him within seconds. I managed to get the rat of him but the rat already bit my snake in the head which left a wound.

Over the week the wound healed up and now is a scar.

So I gave the rat to another snake which went fine. But since he got bitten he has not been eating for 4 weeks. In this time his weight dropped to 645 grams.

Im getting worried as he is losing weight and I really dont see how this incident could stop him from eating as the wound healed fine.

Anyone who knows what could be wrong??

    Thanks in advance!

Sometimes getting bitten will put them off food. How do you feed? It's really rare for a rat to attack a snake before a strike if it's fed/watered and is calm going into the enclosure.

You could try giving him a mouse. He may not associate the smell of a mouse with getting bitten like he seems to with the smell of the rat.

    Try Smaller Food

I haven't had this happen to me yet, but I've heard from someone experienced that when this happens you can go to something smaller. Maybe a Rat Pup or an Adult Mouse. Then work your way back up in size.

    that sucks

sometimes the food chain doesn't work as planned

my snake here has a small scar you can see behind his eye where a rat managed to bite him after he rolled it up:

i feed live, and i'm always there ready with the tongs, but i just wasn't fast enough

Same for me, normally im able to pull the rat away but this one just ran to his head.

The scar on my snakes head also nearly hit his eye
