So I've got 2 cages that stay pretty damp/humid as they both have a red claw scorpion in them. Every time I clean the cages and remix/water the soil I have to throw out quite a bit of decoration that grew mold on it from all the new moisture. Now there is mold growing all along the glass of one of the cages. It is not very much mold, i can easily clean it out tonight but I was wondering if anyone new some tricks I can do to prevent mold from growing.
I have found that the only wood that I've tried that doesn't grow mold is Cork Bark. I also put a grub into one of the cages to see if the scorpion would eat it, but the grub dug itself before the scorpion new it was there. The grub has now grown into a beetle and ever since I first saw the beetle I haven't seen mold in that cage. Does anyone know if maybe this type of beetle eats mold maybe?
Your help is greatly appreciated.
