Well I have had my Rainbow Boa for 4 days now and have tried to feed him twice both times he struck his prey item the moment he say it but did not eat it jsut constricted it and left it. I am taking him to the vet this week probley Wed maybe tues it work goes well. Any Idea's as to why he is not eating. temps and humidity are right where they need to be and he seems well adjusted to his new home.

Give it more time - 4 days is likely not enough for him to get adjusted to his new surroundings. Also when a feeding attempt is not successful try waiting until the next scheduled feeding rather than making intermittent attempts over the next couple days.

Also, if he does that when you try again then leave him alone with the prey overnight. He may eat it during the night. That has worked with Kitty.

By "right where they need to be" - what are the temps. & humidity and how is your snake set up?

He is eating now sorry took so long to reply back to this post had PC issues, I set his tank upp based on the care sheet for Rainbow's from this site. hsi basking spot is around 86* hitting 87-88* for about 2 hours a day temps in the room are about 80-81* during the day and drop to about 75* at night my space heater keeps temps from going any lower. Humidity is in the 70's as a constant (mister in the tank) I talked to the prior owner about him not eating and he told me to cover the tank up with a towel so that it is pitch black and he ate both times now like that right away.
