    Burn help please!!

My BP shed just a few nights ago and her belly has been pink since the shed- but I lifted her today and found that she might have a burn. Any advice on how to treat this? I use a UTH and the temp has been riding kinda on the high side but I don't have a temp regulator for it. It's been around 93-95 degrees under her hide, over the heating pad. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I really can't afford a huge vet bill right now so any help you guys could give me on home remedies and fixing the UTH problem is welcome. I'm worried

Turn off the UTH until you get a thermostat. You an pick a cheap one up on amazon for 15 bucks - far less expensive than a vet bill.

Keep her on paper towels or news paper. Just watch to make sure its not getting infected. A slight burn should be gone with the next shed.

Thumbs up Re: Burn help please!!

That looks pretty serious! I would consider a vet right away. What you can do in the meantime is to make a tea colored betdine and water solution into a tub or bowl for her to soak in until the appointment. The biggest thing with burns is the secondary infection which may require antibiotics and other treatments. Stay in peace and not pieces.

I do have a thermostat, just not one that regulates the temperature. I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow.

That's all that a thermostat should do. What does it do?

Not a thermostat. You have a thermometer.

Thermometer reads temperature. Thermostat controls temperature.

I can't tell from the picture but if that's a big blister you'll probably want to see the vet for antibiotic shots. Once they have open wounds infection can happen. My vet bill for mine wasn't over $150. If it was even that. Change out substrate to newspaper or paper towels and take out everything but water dish and hides. Unplug the UTH until you get a thermostat (different from thermometer).

    Re: Burn help please!!

I took her to the vet and reptile store today and both specialists said the burn is very minor, should heal fairly quickly and to just put some regular old Neosporin on it and watch for spreading or infection. I also ordered a rheostat today so I'll be able to control how hot the UTH gets. Thanks to those who gave advice!

Good to hear. Still keep a close eye on her for signs of infection until the burn is completely healed though.
