    Tap water VS. Bottled/purified water

Tap or bottled/purified? Does it matter? I'll withhold my personal opinion for now...

If your tap water is safe for you, it's safe for your snake.
It is okay to use pine bedding for snakes.
It is okay to feed live food to snakes.

Tap water for the snakes, distilled for the humidifier.

Re: Tap water VS. Bottled/purified water

THANK YOU!! I totally agree. Tap water is fine. I know so many people with snakes/reptiles that say bottled or purified is the ONLY water fit for them. I say this is a big waste of money. If I'm fine with the water coming out of my faucet, my snake should be too!

When feeding people will question a little substrate ingestion and possible negative effects. Most say in the wild it's bound to happen. I wonder what quality the water their exposed to is like in the wild? I usally give fresh tap every three days.

I live in Scotland and we have nice, soft, water.

I've been using tap water for over 20 years with some of my snakes and they are fine.

I have a water purifier that removes the heavy chlorine from my drinking water. They have used so much Chlorine that a glass of water can make your eyes water at times.
I give mine both for drinking/bathing and misting for humidity purified water because I have plenty and store it in the fridge.

Re: Tap water VS. Bottled/purified water

It depends on where you live. Where I live, the water is okay to drink, but the next town over has had a decent amount of mercury in their tap water for years and it's been suggested that you don't drink it. My snake gets plain old tap water, and her bowl gets cleaned every few days to a week. If I had a humidifier, I would use distilled water, only because if you don't it voids the warranty, but since I do it by hand, I use regular tap water for humidity as well.

I use tap water too, the quality of the water is good here so it's really just a a waste of money. I do use distilled in the humidifier and bottled water for the PDF's as they are really sensitive to stuff in the water.
    Cheers, Jeff
