    Cat bleeding from anus

Ok there's a stray colony in my neighborhood and my backyard is "sanctuary" for them to have litters and chill in. About a year and a half to two years ago one kitten was very loving and social towards my mom. She would fall asleep in laps etc. we got her all her shots and spayed and she has been doing great aside from being terrified of everything. We had two other cats already and they are all loving despite my cat hissing at her all the time. They share two large litter boxes that are cleaned daily. Now, as of 10 minutes ago, the one from outback "ruby" is bleeding from her rectum. We are on the way to a vet right now, but I just wanted to know if anyone has had a similar experience? I don't know what could have caused it. I hope it's not a parasite because since they share boxes that would mean they would all have it, right?

    Could be anything

I work at a vet hospital and to be honest the bleeding could be from anything. She could be bleeding from her vagina and not her rectum which would mean she's most likely in heat and that can only be fixed by getting her spayed. More than likely that's the issue but in all realities it could be anything. I've seen many animals come in for bleeding out the back end.

Disregard the part about the heat, I didn't read the part that she's already been spayed lol

    Re: Cat bleeding from anus

Update: it turns out it's a bladder issue. I think it's from not drinking enough water. We can't tell if she's been drinking or not because she's so shy and secretive (being a stray for the first quarter of her life). I think we're going to do wet food for the liquids.

    Try this

When we've got patients in that won't drink but will eat, we mix water with their food. Not enough to drown it so they still appeal to the taste but enough to get water into their system. Try seeing if you can find where she hides and possibly put a small dish of water there so she knows she can be hidden and secure while drinking (:

Thank you! I'm going to try putting a dish in her hiding spot- under a bed lol. The vet put water under the skin of her neck to flush out her bladder and she's on pain killers. I think that the second water dish is the best idea, I'm going to test it for the next month or so and I'll update. Thank you!!!

Hey Citrus, glad everything worked out positively. I know that was scary.
