Good stuff. I used it exclusively when I had my tanks up and running.

You will meed to dechlorinate the water before adding it to the tank or your likely to kill off all the bacteria from the old setup. If you don't want to do it a bucket at a time, a large plastic trash can works well, just has to be clean.
Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

Just don't turn the old canister filter on in the new tank until you've added the dechlorinator. With a new tank, there's not going to be any existing bacteria to be worried about killing off inside of the tank.

I'm considering buying a 50g bottle of AquaSafe to treat the 50L of water

So I fill the new tank up. Treat using AquaSafe then add the old filter and some old gravel and a bucket of water out of the existing tank !?

    Re: Tank cycling advice please

Separate issue .. Maybe physics based ?
I was considering putting the tank on two pieces of aluminium lay down under both sides ( front to back ) - to spread the load of 64Kg .. Could this cause a problem with pressure in the middle of the tank ?? I could put another small piece right in the centre of the tank to maybe help with that possibility ??
