I was at the pet store today and I saw something called heat cable. Is this good for crested geckos?Or is it bad because it is direct contact with the animal?

Not for sure of the make of the heat cable you saw but The cable I have gets very hot so it would need to be controlled using a thermostat ... Also for cresteds you dont want a large heated area a small hot spot of 80-83 degrees is more than enough heat for a crested I heat my cages with only a under cabinate flourecent fixture mounted in the cage

ambient of 85 is a bit high and would likely stress them out target ambient temps should fall in the mid to high 70's
