is the most disgusting smelling thing right now.
i'm just wondering if any of you clean out your feeding tank periodically, or if you like it to smell like death, and/or if you clean it-what do you think is the best cleaning agent to sanitize it yet also be safe?
(ps. my feeding tank is a big rubbermaid with a lid)

I clean my tanks out with hot water and a little bit of bleach. Then i dry then out with a towel then let them finish air drying outside.

uhm...you should be cleaning your feed tub EVERY TIME you use it! That's not safe...and quite discusting! On a side not i also use a large tub for feeding works perfectly.

At the moment I clean my feeding tub with lots of hot soapy water, and I toss the paper towels as soon as he's back in his cage. I haven't made a %age bleach solution yet for general cleaning.

Man I must have got lost in this topic.
i feed Ozzy and Osiris in the same cardboard box that I have been feeding Ozzy in for the last year. I just put fresh paper down everytime.
Never saw a need in cleaning it cause there is never a mess in it not even on the paper towels.
Still smells just like a cardboard box
Guess my bp's are neat eaters. They hit it and wrap then swallow. There is never even any blood.

I'm with jotoy, I wipe mine down every time, but I only actually clean it when I clean Kitty's enclosure. There is no mess from the feeding.

Glad I wasn't the only one lost on that.
If the prey is making a mess ie exploding or guts or bleeding then your warming it way to much.

The only time mine got dirty was when I was feeding live, sometimes when Kitty squeezed a prekilled, but nothing since F/T. All clean, and he doesn't constrict anymore either so....

A couple of mine have been bleeding, but I think it's due to the way it' was killed or the way it's being pushed up against the glass when I warm it up.
I put the mouse in a plastic bag, and then it goes into a mason quart jar of warm water, with a pilsner style glass that fits into the mason quart jar to keep the bag from floating up to the top.
