    Eating rat different.

Never seen her so this before so thought I'd ask others. Last time I fed her, she eats Frozen/thawed, she acts like she wanted to take it then just turned away from it. So I set it aside for a bit and tried again about 10 minutes later. Same thing. So I thought OK is already dead, the rat lol, I'll just toss it in the cage for a while. So I went on to finish up the dishes in the kitchen and went to check on it and she started eating the rat. Which is all fine and good but she wasn't coiling around it just swallowing it lol. She's 2 and a half years old and pushing 5 feet of that makes any difference. Just never seen her eat without coiling around it first and struck me as odd. She seems fine health wise though. No RIs, parasite free, cage temps and humidity are fine. Is this normal occasional behavior or is it something I need to be watching?

If you just left the rat there, she may sense that its dead.. so had no need to strike coil etc.. just went straight in for the swallowing..

My kings and bulls will sometimes not strike and constrict their prey either. I've had to do a few more drop feeds over the past few months too, especially with my normally voracious kings. My motto is if your husbandry is dialed in and they're eating, pooping and shedding without issues I don't worry. Best wishes.

Excellent point haha most she ever went off food for me was 2 months. Definitely a solid Eater just thought it was weird for a constrictor to not constrict lol
