Very dry and flaky skin...
Hey everyone,
I had a question for you guys. Recently one of my guys has been having very very dry skin. I even see it flaking on certain parts of his body. He's never been like this before so it's a little alarming. Humidity is a constant 55-65%. He hasn't shed in at least a good 4-5 months.
Only thing I have changed is that I bumped up temperatures on all my snakes enclosures by about 3-4 degrees because I had a Boa pass away and I was worried it might be due to a RI.
I see him regularly drinking water and I always have fresh water available.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I haven't had Nagini for very long and am by no means an expert, but I have noticed that the further he gets from one shed and the closer he gets to another, his skin, especially along his stomach, starts to flake, and gives the appearance of dry skin much like you're saying. It's entirely possible that yours is just going into a Shed cycle.

Do you have a picture of him showing what concerns you?

It would be hard to capture on a photo. You notice it more by touch.

Could be that it's been so long since a shed that his skin is getting this way. Don't know what is taking so long.

Re: Very dry and flaky skin...
My first ball python male that I had also had some dry skin on his head. It went away after a couple of sheds. See what happens after a couple of sheds. It may or may not improve.
